Collective Resilience: Sector-wide SEM Thinking for Sector-wide Disruptions
April 13, 2025 - April 15, 2025
Delta Hotels Toronto Mississauga
Interconnected social, political, economic, environmental, and technological factors are driving profound changes to the Canadian postsecondary landscape. These external forces are shaping institutional budgets, student behaviour, health and wellness, preferences, trust, and expectations, ultimately redefining the value proposition of postsecondary education.
These pervasive changes demand equally pervasive thought and leadership across the sector. By collaborating and sharing insights, we can better manage today and plan for tomorrow to keep Canadian postsecondary education responsive and relevant in a rapidly evolving world.

About the ARUCC Canadian SEM Summit
The original SEM Summit began in 2008 when Summit founders and co-conveners Susan Gottheil and Clayton Smith brought together enrolment managers and thought leaders from across Canada for concentrated, facilitated dialogue on contemporary challenges facing postsecondary enrolment.
The Summit met annually until 2019. COVID-19 resulted in a disruption to annual Summit planning. In 2022, the Summit returned in conjunction with the AACRAO SEM conference hosted in Toronto that year. The Summit now emerges again in 2025 under the umbrella of services offered and managed by ARUCC and will take place bi-annually going forward.
The Purpose of the ARUCC Canadian SEM Summit is to support and advance the SEM profession in Canada.
The ARUCC Canadian SEM Summit is an intensive day and a half of thought and dialogue. Participants (normally around 100) spend this time together in the same space, unlike a conference with plenary and breakout sessions. Under an overarching theme, facilitators briefly introduce a topic along with a framework to guide the discussion. Everyone participates as we seek solutions informed by our collective experience!
The ARUCC Canadian SEM Summit is now planned and organised by a volunteer group of senior leaders from a variety of Canadian public postsecondary institutions as well as representation and support from the ARUCC Board of Directors and our partner organisation, AACRAO.
