Call for Proposals and Reviewers NOW OPEN!

The Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges in Canada (ARUCC) and the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services (CACUSS) come together for the first time to jointly host Sea Change 2018 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. This year’s program presents a unique opportunity for members of CACUSS and ARUCC to blur the lines of their thinking and practice, and explore the knowledge and experiences of our professional partners.

You'll notice that ARUCC is taking a new approach to its Call for Submissions for the joint ARUCC/CACUSS SeaChange conference. While the submission form may appear more detailed than submission forms we have used previously - don't worry! The additional detail will help us ensure that broad range of topics and issues are covered.

Call for Reviewers

For the first time, we are thrilled to invite ARUCC members to put their names forward to be proposal submission reviewers. We think this is a great way to engage ARUCC members by helping ensure that session topics resonate.

The Rubric

A rubric will be used to help inform which proposals will be selected. This is intended to provide transparency for the kinds of criteria that we are looking for.

We continue to encourage first time presenters and seasoned presenters alike!

Announcing the Concurrent Sessions

Concurrent sessions subject to change without notice

This is the first time these two organizations will formally come together to share common interest, learn from research and innovative practices, and to collaborate and build partnerships between members and external stakeholders. As travel and professional development budgets are tight, building cost efficiencies for both organizations will benefit our membership and our invited exhibitors and sponsors.

The ARUCC biennial conference is the largest gathering of registrarial professionals in Canada. Included in the conference registration ticket are access to all educational sessions, nutrition breaks, exhibitor/poster fair, lunches, opening reception and closing banquet. Pre-conference workshops should be registered for separately.

SEA CHANGE 2018

UPEI is proud to host the CACUSS and ARUCC 2018 conference and we welcome you all to our beautiful Island, the unceded territory of the Mi’ kmaq, from June 17-20. The theme Sea Change is derived from the creation of sea glass; the sparkling jewels found along our shorelines. When considering the student experience, there are many parallels to be drawn to the process glass undergoes when becoming sea glass.  A bottle or a piece of pottery finds its way into a new environment, it begins tossing and swirling in all sorts of directions, bumping up against obstacles all the while reshaping and refining itself, becoming more resilient. Then, finally, it is delivered onto the shoreline of our beaches, a stronger, unique, one of a kind, gem.

We invite you to take a moment and think about all the areas where we can Sea Change already happening: the coming together of CACUSS and ARUCC colleagues to broaden our scope in search of best practices in delivering supports to our students; we already Sea Change in the way we are developing and implementing competencies to further define and refine our profession; and we already Sea Change in our commitment to bettering ourselves, professionally and personally, as we continue to open our hearts and our minds while being guided by the calls for action from the Truth and Reconciliation report. And most importantly, we invite you to come to our Island, to listen, to speak and to learn so that you can return to your campuses reenergized and refuelled, ready to be change agents, allowing our students, on all our campuses to Sea Change happening all around.
